Isabella Santos Receives $10,000 GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship

The Girl Scouts of the USA Gold Award Scholarship recognizes one outstanding Gold Award Girl Scout per council who completed a Gold Award project that demonstrated extraordinary leadership, measurable and sustainable impact, and addressed an issue of national and/or global significance. We are proud to announce that Gold Award Girl Scout Isabella Santos was chosen to receive the 2023 GSUSA $10,000 Gold Award Scholarship.

Isabella was selected because she showed exemplary leadership with her project, “Eco-Club Coalition: Leaders in Action Workshop,” and drove lasting change in her community and beyond.

“My Gold Award aims to address the issue of the climate crisis, its disproportionate effects on impoverished communities, and the urgency for action and change,” said Isabella. “We can achieve climate justice by promoting environmental sustainability, advocating for educational awareness, and collaborating towards equitable solutions.”

This summer, Isabella is interning at the office of Mayor Todd Gloria. In the fall, she will head to UC Berkeley for college.

On behalf of the board of directors and the entire GSSD community, congratulations, Isabella!
